I DO know that as a bride you are supposed to keep your wedding dress a secret from your guest and DEFINITELY from your groom in order to create a breath-taking moment the minute that everyone sees you. But, to quote Miranda from Sex and the City..."the jig is up." Gustavo and I are already married, we are already living together and we...gasp, have already had sex. Avoid your eyes to those that still want to be surprised and are planning on making the trek to the DR. Spoiler alert - there will be a picture of my dress at the bottom of this post.
Last Tuesday I met my BF Stephanie in San Antonio to go dress shopping. We met at a brewery at night to knock a few back and try their pizza. I had to get the recon work in to while I was away from the Brew Crew! It seemed just like old times with Steph...after that we slept in the same bed at Lackland AFB. Also just like old times minus the AFB part. Well for me at least :) In the morning I had my first fitting appointment at 11am. We made it a little late after doing some shopping on base and buying Miche bags. The lady that was in charge of my fitting was very nice - tattoos on her wrists and all. She seemed like she was fairly new but had no trouble getting me into the dresses with ease. I brought Stephanie with me to help me into the dresses I didn't realize that Amy (my fitting attendant) would be all up in my business making Stephanie useless. I had read in Brides magazine a few weeks prior that a bride should wear the type of underwear that she was anticipating wearing on her wedding day. I went in a white strapless bra and a white thong (my mother and sister would have been happy with any underwear at all). To my surprise and I'm sure not to Amy's surprise she got quite the angle of my butt cheeks when she was squeezing me into the first dress which didn't quite fit because as she and I deemed it, I am "pear shaped." Meaning, lets get this gal a bigger dress for her big booty :). I eventually left there with the dress that I had seen in a magazine...and thankful that I didn't show anything more to my over attentive saleswoman.
I am currently sitting in the Miami airport waiting for my flight to the Dominican Republic. I will be there for 4 days finalizing some wedding details - hopefully ;) So look for a future post about hotel/airport accommodations.
On a side note, my roommate and I have come up with the brilliant idea to have Chelsea Handler be Gustavo and I's officiant and Chuy be our ring bearer. Commence shameless letter writing immediately.
